The Admissions Process
The admissions process begins in the fall prior to the desired year of enrollment. Decisions are generally made in late February or early March of each year. Admittance is based on a candidate’s entire profile, which includes an admission evaluation administered by Oak Hill School, a classroom observation (prospective Kindergarten students only), current school records (Grades 1-6), and a teacher recommendation. All admission evaluations are standardized and age-appropriate. For application received from early March, prospective for the immediate school year students are admitted on continual process known as rolling admissions.
Step 1: We invite all prospective families to attend our Admissions Information Sessions on October 5 or 6. The sessions will provide a broad view of the school, our history and our mission. It is an opportunity to hear from our Head of School, Jennifer Hinote as well as current students and parents.
Step 2: Schedule an individual tour by calling Todd Counter or Donna Stewart in the Admissions Office at 615-297-6544. Tours are provided daily, generally at 8:00 a.m. and again at 10:00 a.m. Depending on the time of year, other times will be accommodated. Please allow two hours for the tour. Email reminders will be sent the week prior to your tour appointment.
Step 3: Apply online by clicking here.
Step 4: Download teacher recommendation form here, and submit to present teacher. For Kindergarten applicants, recommendation forms are due for siblings by December 1, and for all other applicants, by January 15.
Students applying in grades 1-6 will need to submit a teacher recommendation and reports cards and any standardized testing for the previous two years.
Step 4: Schedule an evaluation for your child by calling Donna Stewart at 615-298-9596. Evaluations for prospective Kindergarten students are administered in early December for siblings and during January for all other applicants. You may register for an evaluation at either 8:30 or 10:30 a.m.
Step 5: Receive admissions decision via email.
