Summer Library Program and Reading Lists

Great readers fill their lives with a variety of literature-based activities, including reading, writing and literary events. We invite you to join us in the Roxie C. Gibson Library at Oak Hill School this summer for fun-filled programs and events designed to continue developing students’ love for reading.

Summer Library Hours

Every Wednesday, June 14 - August 2
9 a.m. - 3 p.m. 

Every week, the library will offer activities related to a different theme, beginning with the Reptile Guy on Wednesday, June 14. Families may have up to 10 books checked out at a time and may keep the books for three weeks. Children must be accompanied by an adult during any library visit.

Summer Program Schedule

June 14 - Reptile Guy
10 a.m. - 1 p.m.
This one-of-a-kind adventure takes kids of all ages on a journey, exploring their senses of touch and sight
of some amazing creatures. 

June 21 - Cardio Kids “Let’s Get Fit,” presented by My Gym Brentwood
10 a.m.

June 28 - “Under the Community Canopy,” presented by the Natural History Education Company of the Midsouth
1 p.m. - 2 p.m.
This exciting program provides children an up-close look at some of the fascinating wildlife found in the rainforest, while educating kids on the conservation efforts of rainforests around the world. Wildlife exhibits include a white-nosed coatimundi, green Amazon parrot, green iguana and a 9-foot-long red-tailed boa.

Featuring a fun, interactive and educational science show

Animal Tales — Scales and Tails!

July 19 - Nashville Puppet Truck
“Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves”
10 a.m.
“Open Sesame!” Enter the magical Cave of Wonders and behold Wishing Chair Productions colorful adaptation from the Tales of the Arabian Nights. Classic storytelling with a cast of exotic marionettes, clever sets and props and exciting original music are sure to enchant children and parents alike.

July 26 - Music!
10 a.m.
Special guest and OHS parent and musician, E.J. Ford, will lead an an exciting presentation about string, electronic and percussion instruments. Join us for a morning of fun and music with a few surprise twists!

August 2 - Aristocats KIDS!
9 a.m. - 3 p.m.
Join us to watch a recording of the OHS Musical Theatre Workshop production of last year’s fall musical, Aristocats KIDS! We will the video playing continuously throughout the day.
