FAQ

What is the Annual Fund?

The Annual Fund supports the very things that provide a superior academic environment for our students, exemplary faculty and staff, advanced technology and curriculum materials, increased financial aid, and excellent athletics, arts, and enrichment programs. Paying tuition gives our students access to all of this. Charitable gifts are necessary to help sustain and expand it. Every student benefits from the Annual Fund.

Where does money raised from the Annual Fund go?

Unlike many independent schools, monies raised in the Oak Hill School Annual Fund are not used to bridge the gap between tuition and the actual cost of educating a student. Our Annual Fund helps bolster the Oak Hill School endowment, ensures ongoing financial assistance, and provides new technology in the classrooms, updated curriculum materials and student enrichment opportunities. The monies are also used to address emerging needs of the school, such as the recent renovations and upgrades to our dining facilities.

Who supports the Annual Fund?

Every member of the Oak Hill School community—parents, grandparents, faculty, staff, alumni, parents of alumni and other friends—is asked to give generously to the Annual Fund at the level appropriate for him or her. We hope that parents will make the school a philanthropic priority while their children are here and that alumni and parents of alumni will honor the school’s tradition of generosity by supporting today’s students. Broad participation ensures a successful Annual Fund.

How do I make a gift?

The quickest way would be to use our secure online giving form (linked). For more details, including how to make gifts of stock or where to learn about putting Oak Hill School in your will, please see our Ways to Give page (linked).

When does Oak Hill School ask for support?

Oak Hill’s fiscal year runs from July 1 to June 30.

The Oak Hill School Annual Fund cycle coincides with our fiscal year. Solicitations begin in early September and end in early June.

How often will I be contacted?

We send three to four direct mail appeals each year, and our Annual Fund Parent Committee conducts a phoneathon in the late Fall in an attempt to reach as many individuals as possible. Once you make an OHS Annual Fund gift, you are removed from the solicitation schedule. Making your gift by December 31 is a great idea: it provides a year-end tax advantage for you, and OHS saves the cost of sending you additional mailings.

How will I be recognized for my gift?

Your name will be listed in our Annual Report on Giving in the early Fall for giving in the previous school year. You will be listed with others at whichever giving level is appropriate.
