Parents Association
The Parents Association supports the school's mission through activities and events that bring together our community. Through these efforts, we provide a positive parent and family culture as we build on relationships. Secondary, is our fundraising efforts to support the teachers which we do through fun activities and events. In the spring each year, all parents are asked to sign up for their volunteer role for the upcoming year. Our goal is to include as many parents as possible to support Oak Hill School! Here is an overview of the many ways parents can be involved:
Admissions Ambassadors
Parents assist with the Open House, visiting with parents at the student evaluations, and help to welcome new families to our community.
All School Picnic
Parent volunteers organize this festive tradition with live music and catered dinner where families come together to kick off the new school year!
Auction
Held in November and December, the online auction is the perfect place to shop for Christmas gifts! Our first grade moms take the lead to solicit items for our auction with a multitude of volunteers coordinating the online component. Auction volunteers also coordinate art and "big board" live auction at our spring event.
Booster Store
Our parent-run Booster Store features school spirit clothes and other items as well as uniform-approved shirts, jackets and sweatshirts. It is open Thursdays before dismissal, but parents can shop anytime they are on campus -- just stop by the Development Office.
Business Sponsorship
Parent businesses can underwrite Parents Association activities and receive excellent promotion and support of their business.
Christmas Coffee
This reception for the traditional festive Christmas program presented by our children is organized by parent volunteers and is open to all guests attending the program.
Consignment Sales
In the fall and spring, this volunteer-run sale transforms our gymnasium into a huge sale of clothing and household furnishings. Parents consign clothes and household items and work shifts to cover the sale. It is a great way to get to know other Oak Hill families and serve as an ambassador for our school.
Dads Breakfast
At least twice each year, dads enjoy coming together on campus to get to know one another better. Coordinated by dads, often there is a speaker of interest.
Easy Money
Parent volunteers coordinate the collection of General Mills Boxtops for Education and encourage shopping at stores that donate dividends to the School.
Field Day
A fun day for all in May, parents are invited and needed as volunteers to make Field Day a success. Age appropriate fun activities fill the morning with points accumulated for the Oaks and Acorns teams in grades 3-6. As tradition holds, the winning team is announced after the much anticipated tug-of-war.
Performing Arts
Volunteers assist with musical and drama performances throughout the year.
Moms In Prayer
Moms gather monthly at the Cheek House on campus to encourage each other and support our school community in prayer.
New Parents Welcome Committee
A committee of PreK, K and upper grade parents who have volunteered to help make the transition into Oak Hill School smooth for new families. They help to coordinate multiple events and communication.
Picture Day
Parent volunteers assist with school pictures, making sure each child looks their best and that the day goes smoothly.
Room Mothers
Assisting the teachers with parties and field trips, each classroom has two room mothers and each grade level has a coordinator to assist with clear communication.
Round Up
A festival of games and activities for Oak Hill School children, alumni and friends of all ages is held in October on campus. Great fun for the whole family. Everybody comes! Everybody helps!
Service Learning
Parent representatives serve on our Service Learning Board alongside students - who lead the group - and teachers. Parents assist the students to coordinate community service activities.
Sixth Grade Banquet & Video
Parent volunteers coordinate this special night in May, featuring a special viewing of the video that highlights students and activities from their first year at Oak Hill until 6th grade.
Songwriters Night
With a more than 20-year history, parents have organized this annual event with entertainment from incredible songwriters.
Tennis Tournament
A great day for those who play tennis, the April tournament is structured in a round robin format and includes A, B, and C levels. Parent volunteers coordinate the tournament, complete with prizes!
Vision Testing
Parents volunteer so we can offer free vision screening for Oak Hill students in specific grades each year.
Wonderful Wednesdays
In appreciation for our Oak Hill teachers and staff, each class provides a special treat in the teachers’ workroom. The effort is coordinated through the Room Mothers.
