2nd Grade at Oak Hill School
Students enter second grade with curious minds and with school routines well established. Expanding reading skills through a variety of literature is a major part of the second grade curriculum. Emphasis is also placed on creative writing, as students are encouraged to write longer passages, while applying the concepts learned in spelling and English. In math, students apply the basic addition and subtraction facts to solve more challenging problems as they strive to become better critical thinkers. Science and Social Studies units require students to examine and explore their environment as well as other cultures and communities.
Highlights of the Oak Hill second grade are participation in a "Wax Museum" and the travels to the seven continents of the world.
Students maintain good health and fitness by attending daily physical education classes and enjoying free play during recess. They experience weekly enrichment in art, Bible, computer, drama, foreign language, library, and music.
