Julie Lythcott-Haims, Common Trust Speaker Series

Tuesday, November 6, 2018
6 p.m.
Oak Hill School Enrichment Center—Nashville, TN

We are so afraid of parenting wrong that we overdo it to try to get it right! Julie Lythcott-Haims’ provocative manifest, How to Raise an Adult, drew worldwide acclaim for outlining the harms of helicopter parenting while offering strategies for raising children to become self-sufficient young adulthood. Lythcott-Haims draws on research, on conversations with admissions officers, educators, and employers, and on her own insights as a mother and enlightening years as the dean of students at Stanford University to highlight the ways in which overparenting harms children, their stressed-out parents and society at large.

Relevant to parents of toddlers, young children and preteens, JOIN US to hear Lythcott-Haims’ practical alternative strategies that underline the importance of allowing children to make their own mistakes and develop the resilience, resourcefulness and inner determination necessary for success.

The event is FREE and open to the public!
