OHS Announces the Nan Russell Endowment for Christian and Character Education
November 14, 2016
Jennifer Hinote, along with OHS Board of Trustees Chair Michael Baron, proudly announced the formation of the Nan Russell Endowment for Christian and Character Education at Flag Raising today. The endowment honors Nan’s 30 years of dedicated service to helping shape the lives of thousands of Oak Hill students. As a result of developing our character curriculum more than two decades ago, Nan has helped us look inward to better understand what it means to be a person of character and live a life that is guided by Christian virtues and principles. Without a doubt, Nan’s dedication and loving guidance have helped make Oak Hill the strong community that it is today.
Additionally, the flagpole, where so many of Nan’s character lessons were shared throughout the years, was dedicated in her name. A special plaque was mounted on the flagpole and reads:
This flagpole is dedicated to Nan Russell, a faithful teacher and lifelong learner, who faithfully taught students and the Oak Hill School community for 30 years. She emphasized the importance of one’s character in view of Christ’s teaching and the word of God. May this flagpole stand as a reminder for her love of Oak Hill School.
