Weekly Ticker - August 27, 2017

Week of August 27, 2017

  • Parent Preview Night for parents of students in first through third grade is this Thursday, August 31, at 6 p.m. Parents should enter through the main school entrance at South Porch across from the flagpole.

  • Character Books will be sent home this Tuesday, August 29, with the oldest child in each family. We encourage families to read and discuss the messages within the book to follow the thoughts and virtues presented each week at Flag Raising.

  • Parents, please remember that the dismissal line is a No Cell Phone Zone. Please do not talk on your phone while dismissal is in progress. We also ask that you turn off your car engine once students begin walking through the dismissal line. We appreciate your cooperation to help ensure the safety of our students.

  • The OHS Fall/Winter Consignment Sale is scheduled for September 14-16. If you do not have time to consign, you can still help OHS by donating gently used children’s clothing, OHS school uniforms, shoes and toys in good condition. The OHS Professional Moms group will tag these items and 100 percent of the proceeds will go to OHS. Just drop your donations in the bins in the Rotunda, beginning Monday, August 28, through Tuesday, September 5. For more information about items accepted, please click HERE. Donations of wire hangers, bundled in shopping bags, will also be accepted in the bins.

  • Wondering what to do with your solar eclipse glasses now that the big event has passed? OHS is collecting eclipse glasses to be donated to Astronomers Without Borders, which will send the glasses to schools in South America and Asia for use when the next eclipses in 2019 move across these continents. Bring in your glasses and drop in the collection box located in the Rotunda. The last day to donate is Friday, September 1.

  • Calling all moms! The OHS Professional Moms, or PMs, is a group of moms that meets quarterly in a social setting to assist the school in a variety of ways, from stuffing invitations, preparing items for Round Up or tagging clothes for the consignment sales. The PMs provide a great way to connect with other parents, while volunteering for the school outside of regular school hours. The OHS PMs will host their first project at the home of Laura Perkins (209 Maybelle Lane) on Tuesday, September 5, 5 p.m. - 8 p.m. Drop in when you can and stay as long as you are able. ALL MOMS (because we are ALL professionals) are welcome, and there will be snacks and beverages included! All of the 1961 Consignment donated clothing items (the donation bins are located in the rotunda) will be tagged at this event, as well as tearing sheets to be used at the Bandage Bay booth during Round Up. For more details or directions, please email Kelli Dill at khdill@nashvillelifestyles.com or Laura Perkins at lauraperkins4@gmail.com.

  • Have you downloaded the OHS app? Our app is often the first source of information and reminders, and we want to be sure you have access to the most up-to-date information available. If you have not already done so, please download the app and be sure your mobile devise is set to receive push notifications from OHS. For step-by-step instructions, please click HERE.

  • It’s not too late to sign up for the first session of Explorations mini-classes. Click HERE to view class offerings, schedule and to register. The deadline to register is Wednesday, August 30.
