Weekly Ticker - December 31, 2017

Week of December 31, 2017

  • We hope you enjoyed a wonderful and restful Christmas break and are gearing up to welcome in 2018! We look forward to welcoming students back to school on Thursday, January 4, for the second half of the school year.

  • Winter is here, and along with winter comes the chance of snow and ice. In the event of inclement weather, school closing or delayed opening information will be communicated through our automated message system, Blackboard Connect. The school’s status will also be reported on our social media sites and local television stations. We will report closing or delayed opening information by 6 a.m. Buses will not run in the event of a delayed opening. If an early closing is necessary, we will determine the status of bus routes at that time based on current road conditions. Please note, if you do not receive a call or email, the school will operate during normal business hours.

  • The 2018-19 Major School Dates Calendar is now available. Click HERE to view or download. Please note, the calendar does not include dates for curricular programs and special events.

  • Mark your calendars for an all school Green Out Day on Monday, January 11. Students are invited to wear their Oak Hill School green spirit wear to support the basketball teams.

  • As part of the OHS Online Auction, a special Camp Mini Auction is coming in January! A variety of camps will be available for online bidding during the Camp Mini Auction from Tuesday, January 16, through Sunday, January 21. Perfect timing for parents planning summer activities, the Camp Mini Auction will feature local favorites and popular destination camps. The traditional Online Auction will once again be held in April. If you have questions or are interested in donating to the Online Auction, contact auction co-chairs, Camille Rogers, camillerogers@mac.com, or Meredith Stewart, mstewart.tn@gmail.com, with any event tickets, vacation homes, unique experiences or other donation ideas.

  • Girls Scouts is an exciting organization that promotes character, outdoor activities, good citizenship and service to others. A special recruitment event for the formation of new troops and to identify troop leaders will be held on Sunday, January 21, 2 p.m. - 3:30 p.m., at the Girl Scout Council on Granny White Pike. If you are interested in learning more, please plan to attend. For more details about this event, click HERE.
