Weekly Ticker - February 11, 2018
Week of February 11, 2018
NEWS AND ANNOUNCEMENTS
- Parent-Teacher conferences are this week, Tuesday, February 13, and Wednesday, February 14. Teacher professional development is scheduled for Thursday, February 15. Students will be dismissed early on these three days. Dismissal for PreK and Kindergarten only students is at 10:45 a.m. All other students will be dismissed at 11 a.m. Sixth-grade students are required to attend the parent-teacher conference with their parents.
- As a reminder, children are not permitted to be left unattended on the school campus during parent-teacher conferences. Children sitting outside the classroom door are considered unattended. Due to state guidelines regarding ratio requirements, we are not able to accept drop-ins for Explorations. If you require care during your scheduled conference, please make alternative arrangements.
- Hearts of Service Day is tomorrow, February 12. Students will participate, on and off campus, in service projects related to their grade-level service theme. Fifth-grade students should wear their field trip shirts with uniform bottoms, and fourth-grade students should wear their Tennessee T-shirts with jeans. All other students should wear their Round Up T-shirts with uniform bottoms for Hearts of Service Day.
- Volunteers are still needed for the upcoming Spring Consignment Sale, one of the biggest fundraisers for the Parents Association! The funds raised from our Fall and Spring sales go directly back to our school. We need OHS families to be the faces of this sale! This spring, we have a separate volunteer sign up for OHS parents who do not consign. It is a wonderful time to work with other parents and get to know the greater OHS community. You do not have to consign to volunteer. To consign or volunteer, please click HERE. If you are consigning, then please sign up via the link for consignors, which will direct you to the consignor homepage. We hope to see as many of you as possible. If you have any questions about volunteering, please contact Heather Fridrich at heatherfridrich@gmail.com.
- Parents, please stop by the fifth grade bake sale, Cook for a Cause, Tuesday, February 12, during parent-teacher conferences. A fraction lesson focused on recipes inspired support for our homeless community. Puppy chow, trail mix, chocolate chip cookies, banana and zucchini brea, along with granola, will leave your sweet tooth satisfied. All proceeds will go directly to local partners supporting the homeless.
- In the spirit of Valentine’s Day, all students are invited to wear red or a Valentine’s Day-themed shirt to school on Wednesday, February 14. The red or Valentine’s Day shirt is optional and must be worn with dress code bottoms.
- The deadline to submit the form for Grandparents and Special Friends Day invites is this Friday, February 16. This form is very important, as this is the only list we use to mail invitations. All families must complete the form in order for grandparents to receive an invitation. A new form must be filled out each year. If you have not done so, click HERE to complete the form now.
- Thank you to all who supported our first-ever Camp Auction. It was a great success! Some camps are still available for minimum bid and include the following: Riverview Camp for Girls, Camp Bear Track, WNSL Spring Flag Football, WNSL Summer Basketball, WNSL Winter Cheerleading, BA Track, BA Flag Football, BA Football Fundamentals, JCC Swimming and Camp DeSoto Family’s Camp. If you are interested in any of the available camps, email camillerogers@mac.com or mstewart.tn@gmail.com. First come, first served, so act fast!
- Don’t forget, registration is now open for Oak Hill School’s Under the Oaks Summer Program. Camps are starting to fill quickly, so make your summer camp plans now. Click HERE to view the online brochure and to register.
- SAVE THE DATE: This year’s Spring Fling Party will be held on Friday, April 20, at Top Golf! It is sure to be a great time, so go ahead and mark your calendars now. Be on the lookout for a Paperless Post invite to arrive in your inbox soon.
The February virtue is LOVE. Our verse this week is from Romans 12:9, “Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good.”
