NEWS AND ANNOUNCEMENTS
- The next Common Trust Speaker Series event, featuring Cary Rayson, MSSW, from Prevent Child Abuse Tennessee, is coming up on Tuesday, March 6, at 6 p.m. Cary will share with us a presentation, Be Brave for Children, about how we, as adults, can learn to protect children from sexual abuse. You will walk away from the presentation with five useful steps that are proven to protect children. While a heavy topic, we hope you will mark your calendars and plan to attend this informative and important presentation.
- Free child care will be provided to make it easier for you to attend the Common Trust Speaker Series. Children will be served pizza during the event. Registration is required. To register, please click HERE. The deadline to register is Wednesday, February 28.
- There’s still time to sign up for the OHS track and field team, open to students in 4th through 6th grade. Click HERE to register. The deadline to sign up is Friday, March 9. Go Panthers!
- Moms, don’t forget to attend the 2nd annual Moms Coffee this Thursday, March 1, 9:30 a.m. - 11 a.m., in the FPC Gathering Place. We are fortunate to welcome Jodie Berndt as our guest speaker. She is the author of nine books, including the popular Praying the Scriptures for Your Children, Praying the Scriptures for Your Teen, Praying the Scriptures for Your Adult Children and The Undertaker’s Wife. Jodie has a deep passion to equip people to pursue joy, celebrate grace and live on purpose. We hope to see many of our OHS moms at this special event! Please RSVP via the Paperless Post invitation that you received if you plan to attend.
- In partnership with First Presbyterian Church, volunteers are needed on Wednesday, March 7, 5 p.m. - 7 p.m., to help pack food boxes for Rise Against Hunger. These meal packages are shipped around the world to support school feeding programs and crisis release efforts. There is no limit on the number of volunteers, and the evening volunteer hours are planned to engage more people to participate. This is a great mission opportunity for volunteers of all ages! To sign up, please click HERE.
The February virtue is LOVE. Our verse this week is from Mark 12:31, “Love your neighbor as yourself. There is no commandment greater than this.”
