NEWS AND ANNOUNCEMENTS
- The next Common Trust Speaker Series event, featuring Devorah Heitner, Ph.D., founder of Raising Digital Natives and author of Screenwise: Helping Kids Thrive (and Survive) in Their Digital World, is coming up on Monday, March 6, at 6 p.m. We understand that raising kids in the Digital Age is a topic of interest for many, and Dr. Heitner’s talk is an opportunity to hear a realistic yet optimistic perspective on helping kids navigate reputation, friendships and exclusion in the age of texting and social media. Please plan to attend this informative presentation. Free child care will be provided. To register, click HERE.
- As a follow-up to our Common Trust Speaker Series, we are hosting two lunch and learn sessions, the first on Wednesday, March 8, and the second on Tuesday, March 14, to continue the discussion of navigating parenting in the Digital Age. Dr. Dave Verhaagen of Southeast Psych will lead a two-part series, A Parent’s Guide to Technology and Social Media, to take a deeper dive into this important topic. Both sessions will be held from 11:30 a.m. - 1 p.m. A complimentary light lunch will be served. Please RSVP to Kate Sullivan, sullivank@oakhillschool.org, if you plan to attend.
- There’s still time to register for the last session of Clay Creations, TaeKwon-Do and A2D Soccer mini-classes—beginners are welcome! Click HERE to register.
- The OHS Online Auction is coming! Items that previously were auctioned at the Spring Fling party, including class art projects and A Day with Miss Roxie, will be up for bid during the online auction. Week One bidding will begin April 4, at 8 a.m. For more information and to register, please click HERE.
- Mark your calendar to attend the spring parent workshops for your child’s grade level. Formerly called the spring grade-level parent meetings, we revised the format and content to be presented at these meetings, focusing on developmental and social behaviors as well as parenting topics that are relevant to each grade. The revised parent workshops will be a two-part series for each grade. Although the second workshop for each grade will build upon the information presented at the first, it is not necessary to attend both workshops if your schedule will not allow. Additionally, we selected a book for the parents in each grade level to read, and our discussions at these workshops will be focused on the selected book. OHS will provide each family a copy of the book selected for your child’s grade well in advance of the first workshop. The workshop dates and times as well as the book title for your child’s grade is listed below:
