Weekly Ticker - February 4, 2018

Week of February 4, 2018

  • Our special meet and greet sessions with incoming head of school Hart Roper are this week. Hart will be on campus to meet with parents this Thursday, February 8, 7:30 a.m. - 9 a.m., in the FPC Gathering Place, and 4 p.m. - 6:30 p.m., in the library. We hope you will stop by, meet Hart and help welcome him to OHS.

  • The Daddy/Daughter Breakfast is this Friday, February 9, 7 a.m. - 7:45 a.m., in the Enrichment Center. Join us for Dunkin’ Donuts, oatmeal, sausage and coffee, as you start the day off right with your daughter. Early morning care will be open at 7 a.m., to accommodate the sons of dads attending the breakfast with their daughters.

  • Parent-Teacher Conferences are scheduled for Tuesday, February 13, and Wednesday, February 14. Teacher professional development is scheduled for Thursday, February 15. Students will be dismissed early on these three days. Dismissal for PreK and Kindergarten ONLY students is at 10:45 a.m. All other students will be dismissed at 11 a.m. Sixth-grade students are required to attend the Parent-Teacher Conference with their parents.

  • Half-day Explorations care will be available February 13-15, 10:45 a.m. - 6 p.m., to accommodate the early dismissal days for Parent-Teacher Conferences and teacher professional development. The cost to attend is $25 until 4 p.m., and $35 until 6 p.m., each day. Lunch will be provided. Registration is required for your child to attend. The deadline to register is this Friday, February 9. All reservations are final, and no refunds will be given for canceled or altered reservations. To reserve a spot for your child to attend half-day Explorations, please click HERE.

*As a reminder, children are not permitted to be left unattended on the school campus during parent-teacher conferences. If you require care during your scheduled conference, please make a reservation for half-day Explorations. Please note, because of state guidelines regarding ratio requirements, we are no longer able to accept drop-ins. You must make a reservation by the deadline stated above.

  • The last day to donate items for the P.S. You Are Loved campaign is this Friday, February 9. Please bring in new or gently used knitted or fleece hats, scarves  and gloves for men, women and children in need. With each item, students will include a special ribbon that says, “P.S. You Are Loved.” These items will be donated to local homeless individuals.

  • You should have received an email asking for information about those individuals you want invited to Grandparents and Special Friends Day, scheduled for Friday, March 30. This form is very important, as this is the only list we use to mail invitations. All families must complete the form in order for grandparents to receive an invitation. A new form must be filled out each year. Click HERE to complete the form. The last day to submit the form is Friday, February 16.

  • Don’t forget, registration is now open for Oak Hill School’s Under the Oaks Summer Program. Camps are starting to fill quickly, so make your summer camp plans now. Click HERE to view the online brochure and to register.

  • Our Spring Consignment Sale is just around the corner. It is one of the biggest fundraisers for the Parents Association, and the funds we raise from our Fall and Spring sales go directly back to our school. We need OHS families to be the faces of this sale! This spring, we have a separate volunteer sign up for OHS parents who do not consign. It is a wonderful time to work with other parents and get to know the greater OHS community. You do not have to consign to volunteer. To consign or volunteer, please click HERE. If you are consigning, then please sign up via the link for consignors, which will direct you to the consignor homepage. We hope to see as many of you as possible. If you have any questions about volunteering, please contact Heather Fridrich at heatherfridrich@gmail.com

  • No time to consign? You can still help OHS by donating gently used children’s spring and summer clothing, OHS school uniforms, shoes, toys and children’s books in GOOD condition to be tagged and sold by volunteers with 100 percent of the proceeds going to OHS. Please drop your donations in the collection bins in the Rotunda. The last day to donate is this Friday, February 9.

  • Calling all moms! Mark your calendars to attend the next OHS Moms (formerly known as Professional Moms) gathering on Wednesday, February 7, at 5:30 p.m., at the home of Laura Perkins, 209 Maybelle Lane (Nashville). We will tag all of the consignment items donated to benefit the school. If you would like to attend, please let your grade-level representative know or email Laura Perkins, lauraperkins4@gmail.com or Kelli Dill, khdill@nashvillelifestyles.com. ALL OHS moms are welcome and encouraged to attend and be a part of this fun (and helpful) group!

The February virtue is LOVE. Our verse this week is from 1 Corinthians 13:13, “And now faith, hope, and love remain—but the greatest of these is love.”
