NEWS AND ANNOUNCEMENTS
- Please note, school will be closed tomorrow, January 16, to observe the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday.
- Registration for Under The Oaks Summer Program will open on Sunday, January 22. Please click HERE to view the online brochure and start planning how your child will learn, play and create at Under The Oaks.
- In memory of Patricia Shockley, a former OHS staff member who loved to knit and taught so many students to do the same, we will collect new or gently used knitted hats, gloves and scarves for men, women and children in need for the P.S. You Are Loved campaign. The knitted winter items will be collected in the Rotunda from Tuesday, January 17, through Tuesday, February 7. With each item, the students will include a special ribbon that says, “P.S. You Are Loved.” These items will be donated to local homeless individuals on Hearts
of Service Day.
- Registration is now open for consignors and volunteers for the OHS Spring/Summer Consignment Sale, scheduled for February 23-25! Please click HERE for more information and to sign up. Tagging instructions, acceptable items, item limits and all dates and times
are provided on the website. Please note, OHS uniforms are now accepted at the sale. A separate used uniform sale will not be held. Used uniforms will be available for purchase on Friday, February 24, during the consignment sale.
- The sixth-grade class will host the Sweets for Sudan Bake Sale on Thursday, January 26, during the last home basketball games of the season. Sixth graders were inspired by a novel they read in class, A Long Walk to Water, and will donate all proceeds from the bake sale to support Water for Sudan, an organization that provides clean water to South Sudan. Please come to the games to cheer on the Panthers and support the Sweets for Sudan Bake Sale. The first game begins at 4 p.m.
- You are invited to attend two upcoming presentations about parenting and technology at First Presbyterian Church. Counselor Jeremy Shapiro of From Within Counseling, a ministry of FPC, will lead the presentations on Wednesday, January 11, and Wednesday, January 18. Both sessions will be held from 6 p.m. - 7 p.m., in Vance Hall at FPC.
