NEWS AND ANNOUNCEMENTS
- The Common Trust Speaker Series event, featuring Cary Rayson, MSSW, from Prevent Child Abuse Tennessee, is THIS Tuesday, March 6, at 6 p.m. Cary will share with us a presentation, Be Brave for Children, about how we, as adults, can learn to protect children from sexual abuse. You will walk away from the presentation with five useful steps that are proven to protect children. The feedback we received from our faculty and staff and parents who have already heard the presentation has been excellent, with many overwhelmed about the quality and eye-opening information presents. While a heavy topic, we hope you will mark your calendars and plan to attend this informative and important presentation.
- Our first Lenten service is this Wednesday, March 7, at 8 a.m. in the First Presbyterian sanctuary. The fifth grade Forest cohort will lead this service. Our Lenten services will focus on the lessons that Jesus taught us while he was here living on Earth. All students are expected to wear their dress uniform. Parents are welcome to join us and attend the Lent services.
- We will announce fifth- and sixth-grade honor and merit roll recipients on Friday, March 9, at Flag Raising.
- The deadline to sign up for the OHS track and field team, open to students in 4th through 6th grade, is this Friday, March 9. Click HERE to register. Go Panthers!
- Registration for the final session of Explorations mini-classes is now open. We are delighted to continue offering Gymnastics, Taekwon-Do, Chess and private guitar and piano instruction. Please note, space is limited for piano and guitar lessons. We are also excited to add Yoga, A2D Soccer Skills and Chem Kidz! All students registered for a mini-class may also attend Explorations on their assigned class dates at no additional charge. For specific details about each class and the link to register, please click HERE. The last day to sign up is Thursday, March 15.
- The seventh annual Common Trust Cup Golf Tournament will be held on Monday, April 16, at the Golf Club of Tennessee. All OHS parents, grandparents, alumni and friends are invited to play, either through forming a team or playing as an individual. All funds raised go directly to the Common Trust Speaker Series, which has brought in premier speakers on education and child rearing to Oak Hill School during the last several years. For more information, please contact John Boyer, boyerj@oakhillschool.org.
- In partnership with First Presbyterian Church, volunteers are needed this Wednesday, March 7, 5 p.m. - 7 p.m., to help pack food boxes for Rise Against Hunger. These meal packages are shipped around the world to support school feeding programs and crisis release efforts. There is no limit on the number of volunteers, and the evening volunteer hours are planned to engage more people to participate. This is a great mission opportunity for volunteers of all ages! To sign up, please click HERE.
The March virtue is PEACE. Our verse this week is from Romans 12:8, “If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.”
