NEWS AND ANNOUNCEMENTS
- Field Day is this Friday, May 19. Oaks or Acorns team T-shirts are required for students in 3rd-6th grade. The Field Day T-shirt is optional for students in Kindergarten-2nd grade. To view all T-shirts, please click HERE. The T-shirts are the same as in previous years. The cost of each shirt is $7. If you’d like to order, click on the appropriate order form for your child, Kindergarten-2nd grade T-shirt or 3rd-6th grade T-shirt and return the completed form with payment to the school office no later than Friday, May 19. - For a complete list of Field Day events for all grades, please click on the following links: Kindergarten schedule, 1st and 2nd grade schedule and 3rd through 6th grade schedule. All Field Day activities will take place outside. Be sure to apply sunscreen to your child before coming to school. A campus map for Field Day locations can be found by clicking HERE.
- Students will be dismissed at noon (PreK 11:45 a.m.), following Field Day activities. All students will return to their classrooms at the conclusion of the event. You may sign out your child in his or her classroom or proceed to regular dismissal. All students going through regular dismissal will be dismissed at South Porch.
- Wednesday, May 17, is the deadline to register for half-day Explorations to accommodate for early dismissal following Field Day. Registration to attend Explorations on this day is required. To register, please click HERE.
- The final day of Explorations for the school year is Tuesday, May 23. Thank you for your support of the Explorations program this year!
- It has been a great year in the Roxie C. Gibson library. More than 18,000 books were checked out during the school year! Now, it is time to send them all back to the library. The deadline to return library items is Thursday, May 19. The library will reopen for summer circulation on Wednesday, June 14, and will be open on most Wednesdays throughout June and July. Stay tuned for specific times and additional programming details.
- The Over-the-Counter Medication and Medical History form must be completed and submitted for the 2017-18 school year by Wednesday, May 24. This important form is required on file for all students to help the Clinic prepare for needed over-the-counter medications. To access and print the form to submit, please click HERE.
- There is still time to bring in gently used school supplies for the Service Learning Board’s last project of the school year. Collection boxes for the donated supplies are located in the Rotunda. Please place items in a Ziploc bag and drop in one of the designated boxes. The following items will be accepted: used crayons, used pencils and erasers, barely used spiral notebooks, markers, scissors, glue sticks and art supplies. The last day to donate items is Tuesday, May 23.
- The deadline to submit an application for the 2017-18 Service Learning Board is this Thursday, May 18. Rising third- through sixth-grade students may apply. SLB meetings are held the second Tuesday of every month. Applicants must ask for a teacher recommendation. Please click HERE to download the SLB application. Questions? - ‘Tis the season for gift giving! Graduations, Mother’s Day and weddings are all on the horizon. If you shop on Amazon, be sure to link your account to AmazonSmile and help OHS earn easy money.
