Week of November 20, 2016

NEWS AND ANNOUNCEMENTS

  • We hope you will join us for our Thanksgiving Service this Tuesday, November 22, at 10 a.m., in the FPC sanctuary. Please note, the service will begin 30 minutes earlier than in years past. Students are required to wear their dress uniforms on this special day. The sanctuary will open at 9:15 a.m. for seating. Students will be dismissed for Thanksgiving break following the service at 11 a.m.

  • We kindly ask that anyone attending the Thanksgiving Service refrain from taking photographs or videos in order to limit distractions and maintain a sense of reverence during the service. We appreciate your cooperation.

  • Explorations will be closed for the Thanksgiving holiday Tuesday, November 22, through Friday, November 25. If you require care for your child following the Thanksgiving Service on Tuesday, November 22, please make other arrangements to accommodate for early dismissal.

  • Thanksgiving baskets for shut-ins will be prepared tomorrow immediately following Flag Raising. If you have not brought in food items for the baskets, please do so tomorrow. We hope every family will participate.

  • There’s still time to register for the second session of Explorations Mini-Classes. For specific details about each class and the link to register, please click HERE.

  • Due to large interest in the program, Early Morning Art will now be offered on two days during our six-day rotation. Early Morning Art will meet on O days for students in PreK through second grade and on A days for students in third through sixth grade. Both sessions will begin at 7:10 a.m.

  • Don’t forget, the Common Trust Speaker Series featuring Jessica Lahey, author of New York Times bestseller The Gift of Failure, is coming up on Tuesday, November 29, at 6 p.m. We hope you will join us for this informative night. Free child care is available. To register, please click HERE

  • We will announce fifth-and sixth-grade honor and merit roll recipients on Monday, November 28, at Flag Raising.

  • Holiday shopping season is upon us! Don’t forget to help OHS earn “Easy Money” by shopping through AmazonSmile. When you shop at smile.amazon.com, you’ll find the exact same prices, vast selection and convenient shopping experience as Amazon.com, with the added bonus that Amazon will donate a portion of the purchase price to OHS.  Be sure to set Oak Hill School as your charitable organization.
