NEWS AND ANNOUNCEMENTS

  • The OHS Common Trust Speaker Series with Jessica Lahey, author of New York Times bestseller The Gift of Failure, is this Tuesday, November 29, From 6 p.m. - 7:30 p.m., in the Enrichment Center. During this event, Lahey will break down the current research on autonomy-supportive parenting and teaching, praise and failure, while offering practical advice about how parents can give children the support and encouragement they need in order to stay motivated and succeed. We hope you will join us for this informative night. The event is FREE and open to the public.

  • Our first Advent service will be held this Wednesday, November 30, at 8 a.m., in the FPC sanctuary. Please remember that all students are required to wear their dress uniforms for our special Advent services.

The top 120 bids will be awarded tickets at the respective bid price. Bidding will close Sunday, December 11, at 5 p.m. For more information, please refer to the invitation you received in the mail. • On Monday, December 12, during our House meetings, students will complete a service project for the Forgotten Angel children supported by the Salvation Army. Please bring in one toy or clothing (boys or girls, size 0 to 16) item by Friday, December 9, and give to your House leader. Suggested toys for boys include soccer balls, footballs, basketballs,
LEGO sets and board games, action figures or remote-control cars. Suggested toys for girls include dolls and dress-up clothes, dishes and kitchen sets, Hello Kitty and Dora the Explorer items or craft sets. Please note, boys’ clothing items are especially needed!

  • Thank you to our amazing parent volunteers and everyone who helped or donated items for our Thanksgiving baskets. Together, our students assembled a record number of 457 baskets that were given to FiftyForward, an organization dedicated to helping older adults live independent and enriched lives. This opportunity to serve others is one way our students share and celebrate the Thanksgiving season.
