NEWS AND ANNOUNCEMENTS
- Registration is now open for the second session of Explorations Mini-Classes. We are delighted to continue offering Taekwon-Do, Dance, Drawing and private guitar and piano instruction. All students registered for a Mini-Class may also attend Explorations on their assigned class dates at no additional charge. For specific details about each class and the link to register, please click HERE.
- Tickets are still available for the 2016 OHS Musical Theatre Workshop production of Disney’s Aristocats KIDS. Performances are Friday, November 18, at 6 p.m., and Saturday, November 19, at 1 p.m., in the Enrichment Center. Please click HERE to purchase tickets. For questions regarding ticket sales, please contact Barbara Sanders, sandersb@oakhillschool.org.
- Make-up pictures for PreK - 5th grade are scheduled this Wednesday, November 9. Make-up pictures will only be taken if your child was absent on picture day or if you have a special circumstance that requires a retake. Please contact Krinda Hie at hiek@oakhillschool.org no later than Tuesday, November 8, if you need to schedule a make-up picture.
- Each year, every family is asked to donate food items to be included in our Thanksgiving baskets. At the beginning of the year, you received a SignUp Genius form to volunteer to donate specific food items for the baskets. If you have not already done so, please go to your classroom SignUp Genius forms to sign up for basket items that are still needed. Please send the items with your child on Friday, November 18.
- We need your help! Twenty-eight parent volunteers are needed to deliver a Thanksgiving basket to the home of a shut-in with the FiftyForward Meals on Wheels program following the Thanksgiving Service on Tuesday, November 22. These baskets will be prepared by the students and placed on the altar during the service. This is one way OHS students celebrate the Thanksgiving season. If you wish to help us with the deliveries, please email Brenda Boon, boonb@oakshillschool.org. The basket and name of the recipient will be picked up at the altar after the service. A short visit to a shut-in can be a blessing to all.
- Don’t forget to register for free child care so you can attend the Common Trust Speaker Series on Tuesday, November 29, at 6 p.m., featuring Jessica Lahey. Lahey is the author of the New York Times bestseller The Gift of Failure. During this event, she will break down the current research on autonomy-supportive parenting and teaching, praise and failure, while offering practical advice about how parents can give children the support and encouragement they need in order to stay motivated and succeed. The event is FREE and open to the public. To register for child care, click HERE.
