Week of October 2, 2016

  • Admissions Information Sessions are this week, Wednesday, October 5, at 8:30 a.m., and Thursday, October 6, at 10 a.m. Any current family who is considering OHS for a younger sibling is welcome to attend. We encourage all families to join us and invite anyone you know who may be interested in Oak Hill to also attend. For more information, contact Todd Counter, countert@oakhillschool.org, or Donna Stewart, stewartd@oakhillschool.org.

  • Registration for half-day Explorations is now open! Explorations will be open October 18-20, from 11 a.m. - 6 p.m., October 21, from 11 a.m. - 5 p.m., to accommodate the early dismissal days for Parent-Teacher Conferences and Round Up. Lunch will be provided. The price to attend is $25 until 4 p.m. and $35 until 6 p.m. each day. Please reserve a spot by Friday, October 14, to receive this rate. Otherwise the price will be an additional $10. All reservations are final. Due to staffing and lunch/snack preparations we are unable to offer refunds for canceled or altered reservations. To make a reservation for half-day Explorations, please click HERE.

  • It’s time to turn in your Box Tops for Education! Help OHS earn $1,000 or more by turning in your Box Tops, now through Friday, October 7. Look for collection bins in the Rotunda. Thank you for your support of the Easy Money program.

  • Moms, please join us for the next Professional Moms event on Tuesday, October 11, from 6:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. We will count Box Tops to be redeemed for the Easy Money program, as well as tear bandages to be used at the Bandage Bay booth during Round Up. The Professional Moms event will be held at the home of J’Anne Cox, 405 West Tyne Drive. Hope to see you there!

  • This is the last week to contribute to the Second Harvest Food Drive. If you would like to participate, please bring two or more items from your own pantry to the Second Harvest Collection boxes, which are located in the Rotunda and in each wing of the school. The most needed items are peanut butter, canned meat, canned vegetables and fruit, mac ‘n cheese, pasta and cereal. Our goal is to fill all of the boxes, donating 500 pounds of food, which would provide almost 500 meals. For more information, visit the Second Harvest website by clicking HERE.

  • Sign-ups for the Panther Cubs Dribbling Team are underway. Boys and girls in first through third grade are invited to participate. Practices will be held most Mondays and Wednesdays in the FPC Gym right after school until 3:30 p.m., beginning Monday, October 31. For more information, and to register, please click HERE

  • Mark your calendars to attend Round Up on Friday, October 21, from 5 p.m. - 7 p.m. This is always a fun night for the kids, and we could not make it a success without all of your help. Please make sure that you signed up for a shift on your child’s class Sign Up Genius form. We are in need of old or new white bed sheets that can be cut up and used for bandages at the popular Bandage Bay. If you have any to donate, please bring them in this week and place in a collection bin in the Rotunda. Also, begin brainstorming ideas for the cake and cupcake decorating contest. The categories include school theme, teacher look alike, Aristocats and school spirit. Tune in to next week’s Weekly Ticker for more details about this exciting night!
