NEWS AND ANNOUNCEMENTS

  • The OHS Fall/Winter Consignment Sale is this week in the Enrichment Center. Come shop the sale for great deals on gently used children’s fall and winter clothing, coats, costumes, shoes, sports equipment, toys, books, baby equipment, home decór and more! Used Oak Hill School uniforms will be on sale Friday at 8 a.m. Click HERE for a complete list of sale dates and times.

  • The Consignment Sales would not be possible without the help of an army of volunteers.  Volunteering at the sale is fun, and you have the opportunity to meet a lot of other great volunteers. You will also receive meals, snacks and drinks during your shift. Currently, we have many volunteer shifts that still need to be filled. Volunteers are especially needed during the following shifts: Wednesday, 7:15 a.m. - 10:15 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.; Thursday, 7:40 a.m. - 10:40 a.m., 2:30 p.m. - 5:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. - 6:30 p.m.; Friday, 12:30 p.m. - 3:30 p.m., 2:45 p.m. - 5:45 p.m. and 7:40 p.m. - 10:40 p.m.; and Saturday, 12:15 p.m. - 3:15 p.m. To register for a volunteer shift, please click HERE.

  • Beginning tomorrow, we have a week of great athletic events scheduled for our first HOMECOMING at Oak Hill School! All of our fall sports, including cross country, volleyball and football, have home events this week. We hope you will come, support our teams and show your Panther Pride by wearing green! For a complete list of Homecoming Week athletic events, please see the calendar below.

  • Thursday, September 14, is Green Out Spirit Day for our pep rally and homecoming football games to be played later that day. Students are encouraged to wear green apparel to school to show their Panther Pride. Costumes, green hair or face paint are not permitted. Please JOIN US for the pep rally in the FPC Gym at 2:30 p.m., followed by the 5th grade football game at 4 p.m. and the 6th grade football game at 5 p.m. Both games will be played on the Upper Soccer Field.

  • Fan parking for the homecoming games on Thursday, September 14, will be available in the Enrichment Center parking lot, the parking lot in front of the FPC sanctuary or the tiered parking lot by Tyne Boulevard. Parents, please remember that you are responsible for monitoring your child(ren) during the games. If you plan to utilize Explorations before attending the games, you must check out your child before attending. Come out to support the Panthers and be a part of the home-field spirit. Go Panthers!

  • Cross country parents, we have moved the pick-up location for practice on Thursday, September 14, due to the arriving traffic for the football games. All runners can be picked up on the practice field near the Front Lawn. Please plan to park in the upper church parking lot, where the church van is parked. For the safety of our children, we will require that you walk across to the practice field to pick up your child.

  • In partnership with First Presbyterian Church, we will collect toiletry items for Hurricane Harvey victims, beginning tomorrow, September 11. Needed items include: hand towels (approximately 16”x28”, no fingertip or bath towels), washcloths, wide-tooth combs, nail clippers, bars of soap (bath size in wrapper), toothbrushes in original packaging and Band-Aids® or other adhesive bandage strips in 3/4”x3” size. These items will be assembled in hygiene kits for those in need. Look for collection bins in the Rotunda to drop-off the donated items.

  • Your input in the search for our new head of school is wanted! Our search consultants, Burke Zalosh and Marguerite Lloyd, will be on campus on Monday, September 18, from 5:30 p.m. - 6 p.m., and Tuesday, September 19, from 8:15 a.m. - 8:45 a.m., to hear from you. If you would like to offer input, please come to either meeting. Both meetings will be held in the board room.

  • Award-winning author Adam Lehrhaupt will visit with kindergarten through second-grade students on Thursday, September 21. He will share his newest picture book, This Is A Good Story, a book that takes apart the elements of a story—hero, heroine, setting and conflict—then asks the reader to put the story back together again. To purchase a copy of This Is A Good Story, or any of Adam’s other books to be signed by the author during his visit, please fill out the order form found HERE and return it to your child’s teacher with payment by Tuesday, September 19. Orders received after the deadline will be filled according to stock availability.

  • It’s time to sign up for Library Legends! This special tradition at OHS provides and promotes new additions to the Roxie Cawood Gibson Library, while giving students an opportunity to become involved with the library program. Students who elect to participate may select a book from a variety of new library books to present at Flag Raising. Upper School students have the option of presenting via digital video. A book plate with your child’s name will be placed inside the chosen book. The cost to participate is $20. To sign up, complete the online order form located under the Oakworthy menu on our website, or click HERE

  • Round Up is Friday, September 29, from 5 p.m. - 7 p.m. For all of our new families, this is our school carnival and it’s all about FUN. Food trucks will be available from 4:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. Our cake competition categories this year are school spirit, teacher impression, Shine Like the Son and Cinderella, so start thinking of awesome ideas now! Please remember to bring in old or new white bed sheets that can be cut up for the popular Bandage Bay. There will be a marked box in the Rotunda for collection. Look for more Round Up details and reminders to come in future Weekly Tickers.
