Remote Learning Extended Through April 24 and Additional Updates
From most accounts, our first day of remote learning was a successful start. The creativity for joyful learning and the positivity that everyone has approached this new way of learning speaks to the heart of the Oak Hill School community. Thank you for your patience, support and optimism throughout this transition.
The purpose of this email is to provide a weekly update on our COVID-19 response as well as share some additional information and resources. Please continue to also check our website for up-to-date information and an archive of our previous communications related to COVID-19.
COVID-19 Campus Closure Extended
OHS will continue remote learning at least through Friday, April 24, following yesterday’s recommended order by TN Gov. Bill Lee to extend school campus closures. We remain in close consultation with our Board of Trustees, as well as other area private schools. Any response or additional action that we take will be done with the health and safety of our students and families as our top priority and in the best interest of our civic duty to protect the wellness of our surrounding community.
New Lesson Plans Added by 6 p.m.
Beginning today, teachers will add the next day’s lesson plans to the grade-level folders the evening before by 6 p.m. This will provide parents an opportunity to review before students start working on their lessons the next day. Fifth and sixth grade lesson plans will be added every other day 6 p.m.
OHS Family Lent Devotion
While we are not able to hold our traditional Wednesday Lent services on campus during the closure, you will receive an email later today with a Lent devotion that you can read as a family. The devotion is similar to the message that fifth graders were preparing to share at our school Lent service. We invite you to share in a brief time of worship in your home for a Lent devotion today. Interactive Lent services are planned beginning next week.
School Counselor Office Hours
During this unsettling time, children may experience the need for additional emotional support. Our school guidance counselor, Sarah Mathiesen, is committed to the social and emotional needs of our students and community. She will hold daily online office hours, 1 p.m. – 3 p.m., for anyone in our community who needs support or guidance during this closure. To make an appointment, please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
OHS Parents Google Remote Learning Group
We know there is a wealth of information and resources available related to learning at home. We established a Google Group message board for parents to post ideas, questions or best practices that you have discovered to help make remote learning a success. You will receive an email invitation to join the OHS Parent Remote Learning Group. All you will need to do is click on the Accept This Invitation button within the email to join. No password is required.

Parent Feedback Survey
As we look to improve our remote learning experience, your feedback is especially helpful. Look for a parent feedback survey to arrive in your inbox on Friday. We hope you will take a few minutes to respond, so we have a better understanding of the areas that we need to adjust as we move forward.
Thank you for your continued partnership and support.
