COVID-19 and Week 3 Remote Learning Updates
It is hard to believe that we are already in the middle of week three of remote learning. We are encouraged to see students settling into routines, actively engaging with teachers and classmates and becoming more confident in this way of learning. I continue to be extremely proud of the efforts and resilience of our faculty, students and parents.
The community feedback from last week’s survey was largely positive, indicating that many of the adjustments to our remote learning plan between week one and week two served to make workloads more manageable and better addressed the need for community connection. We will send another survey at the end of next week. In the meantime, please reach out at any time with feedback or if new challenges arise. Additional updates include:
Fridays will continue to be earmarked for students to complete enrichment lesson plans and the weekly no-screen challenge. These enrichment activities are optional, providing flexibility to be completed if and when time and schedules allow. Enrichment teachers are developing several exciting and creative activities that we are certain students will enjoy. We look forward to announcing these next week.
Spring Activities and End-of Year Celebrations
Spring is a special time of year at Oak Hill School, with many events and end-of-year celebrations that are central to our culture and community. If we are unable to meet in person, we will work to reimagine or reschedule, either this summer or later in the year, some of these milestone events to joyfully recognize and celebrate the achievements of our students, particularly our graduating 6th graders. We will determine if and when a particular event is rescheduled based on if we return to campus to finish the school year. More to come!
ERB End-of-Year Testing
We are in the process of determining the direction of our annual ERB achievement assessments for students in second through sixth grade. The tests will either be canceled or postponed. If postponed, we will most likely conduct these assessments in the fall. We will let you know when a decision is finalized.
