Update About Closure for the Academic Year

Dear Parents,

You likely heard TN Gov. Bill Lee’s recommendation that all schools should remain closed through the end of the school year. In line with the governor’s recommendation and in partnership with other local private schools, we are extending our campus closure for the remainder of the academic year to help safeguard the health and well-being of our students and families. Although many of us anticipated such news, we are still saddened and disappointed for our entire school community. While our faculty will continue to provide valuable remote learning lessons and experiences through our last day of school on May 20, we will miss seeing all of you and your children on campus.

In the coming days and weeks, we will find more ways to connect through remote learning, to support one another and to honor our graduating 6th graders. This special time of year is full of events and celebrations, recognizing the accomplishments of our students and the hard work of our faculty and staff. While our special year-end activities will not occur exactly how we all know and love, we will find ways to reschedule or reshape those special events and activities that we look forward to each spring. In particular, we are committed to holding our traditional 6th grade graduation, even at a later date, to ensure the Class of 2020 experiences this important milestone and feels a sense of ceremony, celebration and love.

Oak Hill’s mission of “… a lifetime of learning and service” is evidenced in the present, but the seeds that are planted today are fully revealed by the growth that occurs throughout a lifetime. We are grateful that even in these trying times we can rely on the strength of our community and grow in new and fruitful ways that we never thought possible. There remains much work still to accomplish, and even more to celebrate, before this academic year comes to a close. Thank you for your support and partnership during this time.

With gratitude,
Hart
